Putin Harshly Criticises European Leaders, Warns of Use of Force

He said many had expected Russia to fragment, but that did not happen.

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has strongly criticised European leaders, using harsh language and accusing them of seeking to destroy Russia.

Addressing a gathering of Russian military generals, President Putin said that European leaders were attempting to take revenge for past grievances and were pursuing plans aimed at weakening Russia, but claimed that all such efforts had failed.

He said many had expected Russia to fragment, but that did not happen. Putin warned that if the opposing side and its supporters failed to take a proposed US peace plan seriously, Russia would reclaim what he described as its “historical lands” through the use of force.
