Sea Route for Ziyarat Pilgrims to Iran, Iraq Approved
He said the initiative will soon enable pilgrims to travel by boat to Iran and Iraq, providing an organized, safe, and alternative mode of transportation for Hajis and Ziyarat pilgrims.
TEHRAN: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has announced that all arrangements have been completed and licenses have been issued to sea transport companies for the departure of pilgrims through sea routes.
He said the initiative will soon enable pilgrims to travel by boat to Iran and Iraq, providing an organized, safe, and alternative mode of transportation for Hajis and Ziyarat pilgrims.
According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, from January 2026 onward, pilgrims travelling to Iran and Iraq for Ziyarat will only be allowed to depart through authorized Ziyarat Group Organizers (ZGOs) who are officially registered with the ministry.

As part of the registration process, certificates have been issued to 67 new Ziyarat Group Organizers, bringing the total number of registered pilgrimage companies to 91.
The ministry further stated that a comprehensive and official list of approved Ziyarat companies is available on its website to facilitate pilgrims in selecting authorized organizers.
Federal Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said the government is making continuous efforts to ensure the safety, transparency, and proper management of pilgrims’ travel arrangements, adding that the opening of the sea route marks an important milestone in improving pilgrimage services.
