Treason Cases Against Imran Khan Not Ruled Out: Rana Sanaullah

ISPR Director-General’s recent press briefing delivered a clear warning to PTI, he said

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said on Monday that treason cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan could not be ruled out amid rising political tensions.

The remarks come after the military spokesperson criticized Khan and his party for their “anti-army” narrative, calling the former prime minister “mentally ill” and a “threat” to national security. Government officials at both federal and provincial levels have also condemned PTI’s rhetoric against the army.

Speaking in an interview, Sanaullah said the ISPR Director-General’s recent press briefing delivered a clear warning to PTI. He added that the government fully supports the ISPR’s message and that any provocative statements by the PTI founder or his party members could have serious consequences.

He accused PTI of amplifying narratives linked to the Jaffer Express attack and said the party’s recent tweets and public statements were being closely monitored. Sanaullah suggested that PTI risks following the fate of MQM and its founder if it continues on its current path.

The adviser also noted that PTI members’ majority would not participate in what he called “madness” and emphasized that Imran Khan did not discuss his sister’s health during her recent visit to jail.
