TikTok to Introduce New Feature Allowing Users to Control Amount of AI-Generated Content
The announcement was made during the annual meeting of the European Trust and Safety Forum.
ISLAMABAD: TikTok is rolling out a new feature that will allow users to reduce the amount of AI-generated content appearing in their feeds — a move expected to be welcomed by many.
According to the company, the feature will be tested for several weeks before being launched globally. TikTok revealed that more than one billion AI-generated videos currently exist on its platform.
Jade Nester, Director of Public Policy for Safety and Privacy at TikTok Europe, said the company understands that many users enjoy AI-generated content, but it also wants to give people control over how much of it they see.
The announcement was made during the annual meeting of the European Trust and Safety Forum. TikTok also shared that over 100 million videos are uploaded to the platform every day, and the proportion of AI content remains relatively low.
Users will be able to adjust the level of AI-generated content through the app settings under Manage Topics, where a new AI-generated content option will be added.

TikTok’s guidelines require creators to label realistic AI content, and deepfake videos of public figures are strictly prohibited. Any AI-generated video without a label is removed from the platform.
Brie Pegum, Head of Program Management for Trust and Safety, said that while human reviewers remain essential, AI tools help staff remove harmful content more quickly and efficiently.
