King Abdullah II Confers ‘Order of the Military Merit’ on COAS Asim Munir
Abdullah II: Jordan-Pakistan Partnership, Defence Ties Strengthened During Visit.
ISLAMABAD: His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, concluded a significant visit to Pakistan’s defence and industrial facilities, underscoring the strong military partnership between the two nations.
Accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II and a delegation of Jordanian civil and military officials, the King first visited Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS). Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and other senior officials received the royal guests. His Majesty received a comprehensive briefing on GIDS’ structure, capabilities, and product portfolio, which highlighted Pakistan’s advancements in indigenous defence production and potential avenues for bilateral defence cooperation.
Later, King Abdullah II proceeded to the Tilla Field Firing Ranges, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and His Excellency Mr Vugar Valeh oglu Mustafayev, Minister of Defence Industry of Azerbaijan, also graced the occasion. The distinguished guests witnessed a joint fire and manoeuvre exercise that showcased multi-domain operations, including conventional and air firepower, coordinated manoeuvres, spectrum warfare, and the application of multi-purpose drones in various roles.
King Abdullah II expressed his appreciation for the high standards of training, professionalism, and operational preparedness demonstrated by the participating troops and aircrews.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed Pakistan’s deep respect for King Abdullah II and the people of Jordan, noting that the visit reflects the enduring friendship, mutual trust, and shared desire for peace and development. COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored the strong defence partnership and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing military-to-military cooperation with Jordan.
During the two-day visit, which marks a significant milestone in reinforcing the historic bonds of fraternity between Pakistan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II conferred a prestigious military honour upon the Chief of Army Staff.
King Abdullah II awarded Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir the Order of the Military Merit of First Degree. This honour was bestowed in recognition of the COAS’s outstanding service and his significant contributions to strengthening military cooperation between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Pakistan.
