MANCHESTER: Manchester City delivered a dominant performance to crush Liverpool 3-0 in a crucial Premier League encounter on Sunday, marking Pep Guardiola’s 1,000th match as a manager with a memorable victory.

Erling Haaland, Nico Gonzalez, and Jeremy Doku all found the net as City climbed to second place in the league table with 22 points from 11 games, four behind leaders Arsenal. Defending champions Liverpool slipped to eighth with 18 points.

City started strongly, and Haaland opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a powerful header from Matheus Nunes’ cross, redeeming himself after missing an early penalty. The goal was his 99th league strike for the club.

Gonzalez extended the lead just before halftime with a long-range effort that deflected off Virgil van Dijk, wrongfooting Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
