Young Journalists Society Organizes Membership Desk at GC University Lahore
GCU students flock to join the Young Journalists Society for its new movie and book clubs this year.
Lahore, October 3, 2025 – The Young Journalists Society (YJS) successfully set up its membership desk at Government College University (GCU) Lahore on Friday, attracting a large number of students eager to join the society.
The membership drive provided students with the opportunity to become part of YJS, an active student organization known for its efforts to encourage critical thinking, creative expression, and journalistic skills among youth. Throughout the day, society members guided new applicants, explained the society’s objectives, and shared details of upcoming projects.
As part of the society’s diverse activities, YJS introduced two engaging platforms for its new members this year: *the Movie Club* and *the Book Club*. The Movie Club aims to foster discussions on cinema, storytelling techniques, and film criticism, while the Book Club is dedicated to cultivating reading habits and encouraging thoughtful debates on literature and contemporary writings. Both clubs are expected to serve as interactive forums where students can exchange ideas and broaden their perspectives.
Senior cabinet members of YJS were present at the desk throughout the day to ensure smooth coordination and address queries from students. According to organizers, the overwhelming response reflected the enthusiasm of the GCU student community toward media, journalism, and cultural activities.
Speaking on the occasion, YJS president Abbas highlighted that the society is committed to nurturing young voices and providing them with platforms to express themselves responsibly. They further emphasized that initiatives like the Movie Club and Book Club will help students develop analytical skills beyond the classroom.
The membership drive marks the beginning of YJS’s academic year activities, with plans underway for interactive workshops, panel talks with media professionals, and campus-wide events. With the successful turnout at the membership desk, the society looks forward to an eventful year of learning, creativity, and dialogue.
