YouTube launches new AI tools for Shorts creators
YouTube confirmed that the full range of new capabilities will become available in the coming months.
YouTube has introduced a set of new generative artificial intelligence tools for Shorts creators during its Made on YouTube event held on Tuesday.
Among the key features is a customised version of Google’s text-to-video model, named Veo 3 Fast, which enables users to produce clips at 480p resolution with reduced latency. This marks the first time video clips can be generated with sound.
These updates are currently being rolled out in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. YouTube has announced plans to extend these features to additional regions in the future.
New functions brought to Shorts through Veo include the option to animate still images by applying motion captured from videos. This feature allows movement from one subject to be replicated onto another.
In addition, creators can apply different styles, such as pop art or origami, to their videos. They may also introduce characters or props using text-based prompts.
A new remix tool has also been introduced, allowing creators to convert dialogue from eligible videos into soundtracks for other Shorts.
YouTube confirmed that the full range of new capabilities will become available in the coming months.
