Punjab Education Department Orders Enrollment of Child Laborers in Schools
The department further directed that orphaned and underprivileged children should be enrolled without delay.
LAHORE: The Punjab Education Department has issued strict directions to stop child labor and ensure that children are enrolled in schools instead of being forced into work.
Taking notice of children working at workshops, hotels, and other places, the department instructed that such children must be admitted to schools. District Education Authorities have also been asked to coordinate with the Labor Department to identify and bring these children into the education system.
The department further directed that orphaned and underprivileged children should be enrolled without delay. For older children, arrangements will be made for afternoon classes so they can continue their education.
To closely monitor children’s activities and guarantee regular attendance, the Punjab Education Department has decided to keep strict oversight across the province.
Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Deputy CEOs, and Assistant Education Officers (AEOs) have been ordered to ensure full implementation of the notification.
