Journalist Khawar Hussain’s death officially ruled as suicide
The committee confirms findings using medical, forensic, and CCTV evidence.
Sindh-(Special Correspondent / Web Desk)- The tragic death of journalist Khawar Hussain, whose body was discovered inside his car in Sanghar, has taken a significant turn.
A fact-finding committee has submitted a preliminary report, concluding that Hussain died by suicide. The committee based its findings on forensic testing, medical reports, and CCTV footage.
Investigation Findings
According to the report, Hussain had reset his mobile phone to factory settings before taking his own life, deleting all records and removing the SIM card. Sources revealed his last call was made to a water tanker driver near Hyderabad. After that, no further phone activity was traced.
CCTV footage showed him entering a hotel parking lot around 8:15 PM, later visiting a nearby tyre shop to obtain his phone PIN and remove the SIM card. Investigators believe Hussain ended his life between 10:05 AM and 10:15 AM inside his car.
Weapon and Forensic Details
Police recovered Hussain’s licensed pistol from the vehicle. Forensic testing confirmed that the gun was fired inside the car, strengthening the suicide conclusion. DIG Shaheed Benazirabad Faisal Bashir Memon stated that so far no evidence of foul play or murder has been found.

After completing legal formalities and a postmortem, Hussain’s body was first shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad. However, due to a power outage, the administration could not place it in cold storage. It was later kept in the postmortem room before being moved to the Hilal-e-Ahmer mortuary.
Family Statement and Government Action
Hussain’s brother-in-law, Zubair Ali, said the family was unaware of his trip to Sanghar and confirmed that he had no known enmities.
The Sindh Home Department has formed a high-level inquiry committee, including two DIGs, the Sanghar SSP, and a senior officer, to finalise the report. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has also taken notice and sought a detailed briefing.
Hussain’s funeral prayers will be offered after Zuhr at his ancestral graveyard in Sanghar.
