AJK PM Anwar ul Haq Denounces India’s August 5 Actions, Calls It a Demographic Invasion
Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, has said that Kashmiris on both sides of the ceasefire line and across the world would observe August 5 as Black Day as a mark of protest against the Indian government’s unilateral move to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A.
In his message issued on the occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal, the PM said the Indian government’s unilateral move was a blatant attempt to implement the Hindutva agenda and alter the demographic identity of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to relentless repression of occupied Kashmir and persecution of religious minorities in the Indian mainland, the PM said, “Just as India has been marginalizing Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Dalits within its territory, a similar campaign is underway in Kashmir to turn the Muslim majority into a minority”.The Prime Minister strongly condemned the continued siege of occupied Kashmir by over 900,000 Indian forces, accusing them of stripping the Kashmiri people of their fundamental freedoms and rights including their right to life, the right to peaceful assembly, free speech and expression. He said, “India is committing grave human rights violations. Youth are being martyred in fake encounters, journalists and human rights defenders are jailed on fabricated charges”. India, he said, has choked all forms of dissent in the region.
“The press and social media are brutally suppressed”, he remarked.
He also criticized India for amending the state’s domicile law, calling it a deliberate attempt to change Kashmir’s demographic structure and erase its unique identity. “Such actions are not only illegal but also in clear violation of the international laws, and multiple UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 91 (1951) and 122 (1957),” he added.Reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory, he said that India’s August 5 move amounts to war crime. “India’s illegal occupation and unilateral actions cannot alter the disputed status of Kashmir, which remains pending on the UN agenda for over seven decades” , the PM said.
He called on the international community to exert pressure on India to immediately implement the relevant UN resolutions and allow the people of Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination guaranteed to them by the international community.“I salute the bravery and unwavering resolve of the people of occupied Kashmir, who continue their just and peaceful struggle despite severe repression,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the valiant people of Kashmir would never accept India’s immoral and illegal occupation. He also expressed gratitude to all countries, international organizations, human rights defenders, and media outlets who have exposed India’s actions and continue to raise their voices against the atrocities being committed by the Indian occupation forces against Kashmiris in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
