Muzaffarabad: (Special Correspondent): Dr. Haroon Fernando, Executive Member of Fajr Scientific Foundation (USA), visited Mirwaiz Molvi Muham-mad Farooq Medical College, Muzaffarabad, yesterday. During the visit, he met with the college’s Principal, Professor Dr. Adnan Miraj, and inspected various departments of the institution. Renowned urologist Dr. Naeem Ahmad Butt accompanied him on the visit.During the meeting, Dr. Adnan Miraj emphasized the urgent need for the installation of a modern CT scan machine at AIMS Hospital Muzaffarabad, highlighting that such a facility should be available locally to pre-vent patients.
w from having to travel to other cities. He stated that an estimated Rs. 120 million (12 crore) would be required for this project.
Dr. Haroon Fernando responded positively, assuring full support and speedy financial assistance for the project. He appreciated the proposal and affirmed that Fajr Scientific Foundation is always ready to contrib-ute to public welfare initiatives.During his visit, Dr. Haroon also addressed the students, encouraging them to strive for excellence in edu-cation and research, and emphasized that Pakistan’s bright future lies in the hands of talented youth who will lead the way in modern scientific advancements.
He also expressed the desire to establish a modern Urology and Kidney Transplant Hospital in Azad Kash-mir, contingent on the cooperation of the AJK government. This hospital would offer free and quality healthcare services to the public.
He remarked that such healthcare projects are a critical need of the time, and pledged his full support to-ward achieving this goal. So far, Dr. Haroon Fernando has already provided $200,000 (approximately 60 mil-lion PKR) through his foundation for the purchase of modern medical equipment at AIMS Hospital.
