Survey Reveals Best Performing CM Among Punjab and KP

PESHAWAR: A recent Gallup Pakistan survey found that 50 percent of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents believe that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is doing a better job than KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

“Only 38 percent believe that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is doing a better job than his predecessors, while nearly 47 percent favor making Imran Khan the chief minister.”

The survey, based on 3,000 face-to-face interviews conducted between February and March 2025, points to growing frustration over governance, economic conditions, and service delivery in KP.

Key concerns include poor access to healthcare (63%), lack of gas supply (66%), and unreliable electricity (49%). Youth face a lack of public spaces, with 77% citing no parks, 81% no libraries, and 70% no community centers.

Only 43% noted road development since the election, while 37% saw improvements in transport. Among PTI voters, 49% felt that there had been no major progress, and more than half suspected corruption in development spending.

On accountability, 71% – including 62% of PTI voters – support inquiries into large-scale projects. Meanwhile, 59% blamed the government for unemployment, and 73% believe that jobs are given through personal connections.

While 58% are satisfied with security, 57% still fear terrorism. Trust in the courts is low, but 84% support the jirga system. The health card scheme received 83% approval.

A large majority supports cooperation with the federal government and strict controls on social media and the return of Afghan refugees.
