Erdogan welcomes Pakistan-India ceasefire, praises PM Shehbaz for ‘peace leadership’

BAKU: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, addressing a trilateral summit in Azerbaijan, expressed his happiness over the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India, expressing hope that the ceasefire would become permanent.

Erdogan congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistani officials for demonstrating restraint and wisdom during a period of heightened tensions with India.

“Just three days ago, I hosted my brother Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul, where we reviewed progress on strategic cooperation projects and agreed to further strengthen Pakistan-Türkiye ties,” Erdogan said.

He emphasized that Türkiye stands ready to offer any support to help maintain peace in the region and reiterated his commitment to transforming trilateral relations between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan into a strategic partnership.
