Major Terrorist Plot Foiled in Quetta by Counter Terrorism Department

No Suspects Arrested as CTD Foils Terrorist Plot in Quetta

Quetta (Our Correspondent) – A major terrorist plot was successfully foiled by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Quetta following a timely intelligence-based operation near Radio Pakistan Tower on Sariab Road on Saturday. The CTD’s swift action prevented what could have been a devastating attack on critical infrastructure in the city.

Acting on credible intelligence, CTD officials launched a coordinated raid, supported by the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), after receiving information about plans for sabotage in the area. The operation was executed with precision, leading to the discovery of a substantial cache of explosives and weapons.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the authorities uncovered a 20-kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) equipped with a remote-control detonation system, along with 50 kilograms of high-grade explosive material buried underground. The security personnel also recovered five hand grenades, three 9mm pistols with live rounds, detonators, and various remote triggering devices from the site.

Fortunately, no suspects were present at the location during the operation, and no arrests have been made at this stage. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the CTD Quetta Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Forensic analysis of the recovered items is underway, and follow-up intelligence-based operations are in progress to trace the individuals responsible for the plot.

The CTD has reassured the public of its ongoing efforts to prevent any attempts to destabilize the region and has urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
