Pakistan Seeks Tractor Plant with Belarusian Expertise
Minsk: During his visit to Belarus, Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, led the Pakistani delegation in a series of meetings with Belarusian ministers to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key economic and trade sectors. One of the highlights of the visit was the discussion regarding the establishment of a tractor manufacturing plant in Pakistan, similar to the renowned facilities in Belarus.
Khan met with the Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Alexei Lyakhnovich, where they discussed the ongoing efforts to improve road connectivity between the two countries. The Federal Minister emphasized that enhanced road links would not only boost bilateral trade but also provide easier access to Central Asia and Europe, strengthening Pakistan’s position as a trade hub in the region.
Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the significant geographical advantage that Belarus offers for trade and expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in the communications sector. He expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Belarus would further cement these ties.
In a special gesture, the Minister also invited Belarus’ Minister of Transport to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s communications infrastructure, especially in the motorway sector.

Later, Abdul Aleem Khan and his delegation visited a prestigious tractor manufacturing plant in Minsk, Belarus, which has been operational for 75 years. The plant manufactures over 62 models of tractors and vehicles, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 units and a workforce of more than 20,000 employees. The delegation was informed that countries like Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Romania, Kazakhstan, Russia, Lithuania, and Pakistan are key importers of these tractors.
The Federal Minister expressed Pakistan’s interest in establishing a similar tractor plant in the country, emphasizing the potential benefits of Belarus’ advanced technology and environmentally friendly manufacturing processes. He praised the operations at the Belarusian plant and indicated that Pakistan could benefit from Belarus’ expertise in this sector.
The delegation was given a comprehensive tour of the plant, where Belarusian officials addressed their queries, and discussions on future collaboration in tractor manufacturing were held.
