YouTube Communities Gets an Upgrade and Reaches More Creators
YouTube's "Communities" Feature Exclusive to Mobile, Enhances Creator-Follower Interactions
ISLAMABAD: In a move to boost creator-fan relationships on its platform, YouTube is expanding access to its Communities feature, reducing creators’ need for external platforms such as Discord for audience engagement
Communities, which debuted during last fall’s Made for YouTube event, remains exclusive to mobile phones. This dedicated social space lets creators make text posts with images similar to X, while simultaneously letting users have discussions without leaving the platform. By keeping these interactions within its ecosystem, YouTube is working to create a more integrated experience for both creators and their followers.
Here is what YouTube said in its blog post:
We’ve been testing Communities with a small group of creators and have heard positive feedback, which is why we’re excited to keep expanding access.
Content creators will now have a moderation system through the YouTube Studio app’s Community Hub, where they can oversee channel activity and receive AI-powered suggestions for fan interactions.

Additionally, YouTube has rebranded its existing Community tab as “Posts” to create a clearer distinction between the platform’s engagement features. The rollout of Communities is still invitation-based. Select creators will receive notifications through two channels: a direct email and a banner displayed on their channel page in the YouTube app. Once creators get an invitation, they can click the “Go to Community” prompt, which guides them through the activation process.
There is no word on a wider rollout yet, but we can expect the feature to reach everyone once the test is successful.
