Fawad Ch Expelled from PTI Amid Rising Tensions
ISLAMABAD: In a dramatic turn of events, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has officially terminated the membership of Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, citing consistent criticism of the party leadership and activities deemed detrimental to the party’s reputation.
In an official letter issued by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Fawad was accused of engaging in character assassination of party supporters and disrespecting the martyrs of May 9 and November 26 through his posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The letter also highlighted Fawad’s repeated defiance of party warnings and instructions to cease his objectionable conduct.
“Your basic membership is hereby terminated, and you are expelled from the Party with immediate effect,” the letter read. It further instructed Fawad to remove all affiliations with PTI from his social media accounts and public appearances.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain had reportedly distanced himself from PTI as early as 2022 but continued to engage in public discourse involving the party. The PTI Core Committee had warned him multiple times about his critical statements and posts targeting the party and its volunteers.
This decision marks another significant shake-up within PTI, as the party grapples with internal divisions following a tumultuous year. Fawad Hussain, a former close ally of Imran Khan, now finds himself on the opposite side of a party he once represented.
Fawad has not yet issued an official statement in response to the expulsion, but political analysts suggest this move could further polarize PTI’s supporters and leadership.
This development is being closely watched as it unfolds amid Pakistan’s volatile political landscape.
