Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in Riyadh to Enhance Saudi-Pak Ties and Join Future Investment Initiative Summit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif landed in Riyadh on Tuesday for a two-day visit aimed at boosting bilateral relations and attending the Future Investment Initiative (FII) summit. He was welcomed at the airport by Riyadh Deputy Governor Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq.

Accompanying the prime minister are key cabinet members, including ministers of finance, defense, privatization, information, petroleum, and commerce.

The Foreign Office highlighted the importance of FII as a platform for showcasing economic resilience, attracting foreign investments, and fostering dialogue for sustainable progress. This year’s FII theme, “Infinite Horizons: Investing Today, Shaping Tomorrow,” will address significant global issues like artificial intelligence, energy, space, finance, healthcare, and sustainability.

During the visit, PM Shehbaz is scheduled for bilateral discussions with Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and other high-ranking officials. Talks will cover economic and strategic collaboration, particularly in the fields of economy, energy, and defense.

The prime minister will also connect with international leaders and business figures at the summit, exploring partnerships and investment prospects.

Next Stop: Qatar to Attend COP29 and Bolster Qatar-Pakistan Relations

After concluding his Saudi visit, PM Shehbaz will proceed to Qatar on Thursday to join the COP29 conference and reinforce relations with Qatar. He is set to inaugurate an exhibition in Doha showcasing Pakistani exports, art, and culture at the invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Meetings with the emir and other leaders to discuss investment opportunities in Pakistan are also on the agenda.
