Sydney-(Special Correspondent): Three men tragically lost their lives on Saturday when two light aircraft collided midair and crashed into a wooded area southwest of Sydney.
Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, responded to the crash site, located roughly 55 miles from the city.
New South Wales Police Acting Superintendent Timothy Calman reported that the collision involved a Cessna 182 with two occupants and an ultralight aircraft carrying one individual. One of the planes burst into flames upon impact.
Eyewitnesses described seeing debris falling from the sky and tried to assist, but the crash was severe, leaving little chance for survival as both incidents were declared “not survivable.”
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has launched an investigation into the collision’s cause, though no additional information on the victims has been released yet.
