Parliament’s Authority Reaffirmed with Passage of 26th Amendment
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Parliament has set a framework for fostering national unity, following the approval of the 26th Constitutional Amendment by both the Senate and National Assembly.
During an important National Assembly session early Monday, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to coalition partners for supporting the constitutional package. He stated that the amendment would pave the way for a strong and prosperous future for the country.
Shehbaz Sharif also acknowledged Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s significant efforts in ensuring the passage of the amendment, describing it as a historic achievement for the nation’s political landscape.
“The name of a particular judge was mentioned in the session, but I am unaware of his comments. That judge has since resigned,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister reflected on the legacy of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, stating, “Today, the vision of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif has been realized.”
He concluded by reaffirming that Parliament’s authority had been reinforced. The Prime Minister also signed the constitutional amendment bill, officially marking its approval by Parliament.
