Federal Cabinet Meeting Today to Approve Constitutional Amendments

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chairs session after special committee approval

Islamabad-(Mudassar Iqbal): The federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is set to convene at 9:30 AM today. During the meeting, the cabinet is anticipated to approve a draft of constitutional amendments.

This draft had already gained approval from a special parliamentary committee, which led to the swift scheduling of the cabinet session. In a previous meeting, the cabinet postponed making a decision on the amendments.

PTI and JUI-F Leaders Reach Agreement on Constitutional Amendments

Both the National Assembly and Senate are also scheduled to reconvene today. On Friday, sessions in both houses were adjourned before the proposed amendments could be introduced.

The Senate will resume its session at 11:00 AM, while the National Assembly is expected to meet at 3:00 PM. Both houses are expected to discuss and potentially approve the constitutional amendments.

Ruling Coalition Struggles to Gather Votes for Constitutional Amendment

Although a nine-point agenda has been issued for the National Assembly session, the constitutional amendments are not currently included on the list.
