Accurate data vital for effective future planning and targeted relief: CM Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has highlighted the alarming trend of monthly electricity bills equaling people’s entire incomes. Speaking at the inauguration of the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry Project, she emphasized the importance of accurate data for effective future planning and targeted relief.
She noted that a comprehensive social registry is crucial for classifying deserving individuals, ensuring accurate data is available for marginalized groups, including the disabled. The initiative will facilitate registration in socio-economic protection programs, with over 5,000 registration centers set up across the province. Citizens can also register online or through the help line at 080002345.
Maryam Nawaz criticized the current state of electricity bills, stating that a significant portion of the province’s population struggles with bills that match or exceed their monthly earnings. To address this, Punjab is launching a solar energy project to reduce electricity bills by half for 4.5 million users
