Nepra Proposes New Fixed Charges for Domestic Electricity Consumers
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has proposed the introduction of fixed charges for domestic electricity consumers starting from July 1.
Sources indicate that Nepra has submitted these proposals to the federal government, which will make the final decision. The proposed fixed charges are incorporated into the average basic electricity tariff.
Under the proposal, consumers using 301 to 400 units per month will be charged Rs 200, while those consuming 401 to 500 units will face a Rs 400 fixed charge. For consumption of 501 to 600 units, the charge will be Rs 600; for 601 to 700 units, Rs 800; and for usage exceeding 700 units, the fixed charge will be Rs 1,000.

These fixed charges are a new addition to the basic electricity tariff for domestic customers, who previously did not face such charges. The final decision on the implementation will be made by the federal government.
