“ Ababeel Missile VS Agni -V “ Arms race at its peak between Pakistan and India

By: Arif Janjua In Islamabad
The tensions between Pakistan and India have always been high, and now a new race has emerged in the form of developing multiple independent targetable reentry vehicle (MIRV) systems. Both countries have been working tirelessly to enhance their missile technology capabilities, and the development of MIRVs is seen as a significant step in this direction. Pakistan successfully tested its Ababeel missile in January 2017, which is capable of carrying multiple warheads using MIRV technology. This development has raised concerns in India, as it marks a significant advancement in Pakistan’s ballistic missile capabilities. The Ababeel missile has a range of 2,200 kilometers and is designed to evade missile defense systems by releasing multiple warheads that can each be individually targeted. On the other hand, India has also been actively working on developing its MIRV technology. India successfully tested its advanced Agni-V missile in January 2018, which is capable of carrying multiple warheads with MIRV technology. The Agni-V missile has a range of 5,000 kilometers and is seen as a significant deterrent against potential threats from its neighboring countries, including Pakistan and China. The development of MIRV systems by both Pakistan and India has raised concerns about a new arms race in the region. These advanced missile technologies have the potential to escalate tensions and increase the risk of a nuclear conflict between the two countries. With the ability to target multiple locations simultaneously, MIRV systems have the potential to cause widespread destruction and devastation.
The international community has expressed concern over the development of MIRV systems by Pakistan and India, urging both countries to exercise restraint and work towards de-escalating tensions. The proliferation of advanced missile technologies in the region could have severe implications for global security and stability. It is crucial for both Pakistan and India to engage in meaningful dialogue and confidence-building measures to reduce the risk of a nuclear conflict. The development of MIRV systems only serves to increase the stakes and further complicate an already volatile situation. Diplomatic efforts must be prioritized to prevent the escalation of tensions and ensure peace and stability in the region.
