9th May was the ‘darkest day’ in history of Pakistan,

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday “May 9 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan when PTI Chairman Imran Khan Niazi led miscreants torched Quaid’s (Corps Commander’s) House in Lahore like the terrorists had set on fire Quaid’s Residency in Ziarat during 2013.”

Shehbaz Sharif likened on Sunday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Addressing a meeting on the law and order situation in the country, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, “The TTP attacked the GHQ [General Headquarters], and these enemies of the state [PTI] also attacked the GHQ.” During the May 9 riots. The office of Radio Pakistan in Peshawar was also vandalised, he lamented.

During a meeting held in Lahore to discuss the law and order situation, he asserted that all individuals involved in the incidents that occurred on that day would face legal consequences.

He further stated that the enemies of Pakistan not only targeted the General Headquarters (GHQ) but also set fire to Jinnah House and public properties. Moreover, Radio Pakistan Peshawar and an FC school were also subjected to arson on the same day, he added.

The prime minister emphasised that those responsible for attacking military installations would not evade justice and assured their apprehension.

The meeting also assessed the progress made regarding the decisions of the National Security Committee (NSC).

The premier condemned Imran Khan for his actions, claiming that he accomplished what even Pakistan’s adversaries failed to achieve in the span of 75 years.

He added that the PTI chief and his followers stoked terrorism and violence that amounted to anti-state acts.

They caused damage to such a huge extent that even the enemies of Pakistan could not do it in the last 75 years, he added. “Such agonising incidents will continue to haunt the nation.”

Seeking progress on the legal proceedings against the culprits, he reiterated that during previous meetings, it was decided that anyone involved in the incidents of planning, instigating, sloganeering and vandalism would not escape the iron claws of law.
