5.7 Earthquake Shakes Northern Regions of Pakistan

Authorities Report Significant Tremors, Residents Evacuate Homes

Peshawar-(Staff Reporter): A powerful earthquake registering 5.7 on the Richter scale struck northern Pakistan, causing widespread panic as residents hurriedly evacuated their homes.

The tremors were most strongly felt in Dir and nearby regions, while milder tremors were also experienced in Chitral and Swat.

As per the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Islamabad, the earthquake’s epicenter was situated in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, with a reported depth of 187 kilometers.
