40km Green Corridor Cleared to Tackle Smog in Lahore
The 40-kilometre green corridor will extend from Shahdara to Raiwind, converting the land along the railway track into continuous green belts aimed at reducing air pollution in Lahore.
The Punjab government has approved an ambitious plan to develop a 40-kilometer-long green corridor in Lahore, aimed at curbing rising levels of air pollution and smog.
According to details, the project will include recreational spaces for citizens at various points and repurpose railway carriages into libraries and cafés to enhance public engagement.
The initiative is estimated to cost over Rs 2.35 billion and will cover approximately 700 kanals. The Housing Department has announced that the green corridor will be completed within one year. The project is part of a broader effort to address Lahore’s environmental and public health challenges.
