31 TTP Militants Killed in Security Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: ISPR

"The clearance operation is still ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area," said the military’s media wing.

PESHAWAR — In a major counter-terrorism success, Pakistani security forces have killed 31 militants belonging to the India-backed terrorist outfit Fitna-tul-Khawarij (TTP) in two separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

The operations took place on September 13 and 14 in the districts of Lakki Marwat and Bannu, targeting hideouts of the outlawed group which has been responsible for a series of deadly attacks in the region.

In Lakki Marwat, security forces conducted a precision operation following credible intelligence about the presence of militants. A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the elimination of 14 terrorists affiliated with the India-sponsored Fitna-tul-Khawarij network, the ISPR said.

A second operation, also based on actionable intelligence, was carried out in the Bannu district where 17 more terrorists were neutralized. Both operations are being described as significant blows to the operational capability of the banned group.

“The clearance operation is still ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area,” said the military’s media wing.

The ISPR emphasized that the Pakistani armed forces remain fully committed to eradicating terrorism from the country and countering threats backed by foreign elements, particularly Indian intelligence agencies.

The term Fitna-tul-Khawarij is often used by Pakistani authorities to describe the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) and its affiliates, viewed as ideological extremists with backing from hostile foreign powers.

These developments come amid a broader crackdown on militancy in the country, especially in tribal and border regions where terror outfits have tried to regroup in recent months.

Security analysts say the latest successful operations underscore the military’s resolve to prevent any resurgence of terrorism in Pakistan and send a strong message to external actors allegedly supporting destabilizing activities.
