3.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Karachi

Mild earthquake impacts Karachi, with vibrations reported northwest of Malir.

Karachi  – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Karachi residents felt mild tremors on Wednesday morning as a 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck the city, prompting alarm among inhabitants.

According to the national seismological centre, the quake struck at 9:34 a.m., with its epicentre 7 kilometres northwest of Malir.

The seismic activity was reported at a depth of 10 km, indicating a shallow earthquake. Shallow earthquakes, despite their low magnitude, are frequently felt more powerfully on the surface.

Residents in several parts of the city reported feeling light tremors, particularly around Malir. The earthquakes were felt powerfully in several regions, leading many to rush out of their homes and offices in fear. However, no loss of life or property has been reported thus far.

The Meteorological Department and related agencies are closely monitoring the situation. Experts suggest that such low-intensity earthquakes may simply be a natural release of energy along fault lines.”
