20-Year-Old Girl Dies After Donating Part of Her Liver to Save Her Father

GIMS Director Promises Investigation into Fatal Liver Transplant Complication

RANIPUR:– A tragic incident has occurred in Ranipur, Khairpur district, where a 20-year-old girl, Muqaddas, who selflessly donated part of her liver to save her father, has passed away following a liver transplant procedure.

Muqaddas, a resident of Ranipur, underwent the transplant surgery at the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). However, despite the hope that the procedure would save her father’s life, she could not survive the operation.

Her grieving family has accused the doctors of negligence, claiming that despite her critical condition, they were repeatedly reassured that she would recover. The family was shocked and devastated when they were informed at 2 AM to collect her body, despite previous assurances of her recovery.

In their sorrow, the family buried her in Shujaabad. Tragically, her father, who was already in a weakened state, has suffered further health complications upon hearing of his daughter’s death.

Dr. Rahim Bakhsh Bhatti, the Director of GIMS Hospital, has stated that he was unaware of the incident but promised to conduct an investigation. He mentioned that such complications, though rare, occur in about one out of every 200 liver transplant cases.
