The District Sports Department has sealed 15 shops on Rawalpindi Food Street adjacent to the cricket stadium over 2.1 million outstanding dues for the past two decades.
According to the sealed shops are G 29, 30, 41, 42, 43, 51, 52, 62, 67, 68, 69, 70, 72, 75 and 77.
District Sports Officer Shams Tawheed Abbasi said that the rent of many shops
was outstanding
since January 1, 2002.
Notices were given several times but to no avail, he said, adding that these shops will be auctioned again and defaulters will not be eligible to participate in the auction.
Backed by the police, the operation was conducted under Assistant Commissioner City Zanira Aftab.
