Stabbing and chemical attack at Japan tire factory injures workers, suspect arrested.
Mishima – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – A man attacked workers at a Japanese tire factory, stabbing some and spraying a liquid that police believe is bleach, leaving fifteen people hurt. The attack happened on a Friday afternoon at the Yokohama Rubber Company in the city of Mishima. Emergency crews received a call just after 4:30 PM local time reporting that several people had been stabbed and that a liquid had been sprayed inside the building.
Authorities confirmed that fifteen people were injured in the violent incident. Out of those, eight people were hurt by knife wounds. The other seven people suffered injuries from a chemical liquid thrown during the attack, which officials think was likely bleach. Five of the people who were stabbed are said to be in serious condition.
Police officers quickly arrested a 38-year-old man at the factory on suspicion of attempted murder. According to media reports, the man has some connection to the factory. He was reportedly wearing what looked like a gas mask during the attack. News reports also state that the weapon he carried was described as a survival knife.
The factory where this happened is the Mishima Plant of Yokohama Rubber. The site produces tires for passenger cars and light trucks, and as of last year, employed nearly a thousand people. The plant is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, an area known for its scenic views of the famous Mount Fuji.

Officials are still investigating the details and the motive behind this shocking act of violence. Such violent crimes are uncommon in Japan, a country known for its strict laws and low crime rates. However, the nation has experienced other serious attacks in recent years, including the killing of a former prime minister in 2022.
