1,000 KG Toxic Chicken Meat Seized in Lahore

Contaminated Chicken Seized, Declared Unfit for Consumption

ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Food Authority’s (PFA) Meat Safety Task Force confiscated and destroyed 1,050 kilograms of diseased and unsafe chicken during a targeted operation at Tollinton Market. Acting on the instructions of PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid, food safety teams inspected poultry products from 17 suppliers and vendors, examining a total of 28,000 kilograms of chicken.

The inspection revealed that the seized meat was not only underweight but also contaminated with flu and other infections. Veterinary specialists, after a detailed evaluation, declared the meat unfit for human consumption. The DG stated that the contaminated chicken was intended for sale in the market and emphasized that selling or processing meat from sick poultry is a serious violation of food safety regulations. Substantial fines were levied against those found involved in the illegal activity.
