SNGPL cracks down on gas theft, disconnects 273 illegal connections in ongoing operation

Faisalabad witnessed the disconnection of five connections for illegal gas usage and two for the use of compressors.

LAHORE: In a relentless pursuit against gas pilferers, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) continued its crackdown across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, disconnecting a total of 273 illegal connections and imposing fines amounting to Rs2.9 million.

In the provincial capital Lahore, the regional team took decisive action by disconnecting 22 connections involved in the illegal use of gas, while another 15 were disconnected for the use of compressors. A significant fine of Rs0.22 million was imposed on those found guilty of gas theft, emphasizing the strict measures being taken to curb this unlawful activity.

The team in Rawalpindi followed suit, disconnecting three connections identified for illegal gas usage. Meanwhile, in Islamabad, the operation resulted in the disconnection of five connections engaged in the unauthorized consumption of gas.

Multan’s team targeted 14 connections for the use of compressors, imposing fines amounting to 0.25 million against gas theft cases. In Peshawar and Karak, the company disconnected 50 connections for direct and illegal gas usage, leading to the imposition of fines totaling Rs1.67 million. Notably, the team lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against gas pilferers to ensure legal consequences for the perpetrators.

The team in Abbottabad took action by disconnecting two connections involved in the illegal use of gas. In Sahiwal, three connections were disconnected for the use of compressors, demonstrating the breadth of the operation across various regions.

In Sheikhupura, a substantial 52 connections were disconnected due to illegal gas usage, with an additional three connections for the use of compressors. The fines imposed amounted to Rs0.13 million against gas theft cases.

Bahawalpur’s team achieved a significant milestone by disconnecting 86 connections engaged in illegal and direct gas usage. A fine of Rs0.376 million was imposed, underscoring the commitment to bringing gas thieves to justice.

Faisalabad witnessed the disconnection of five connections for illegal gas usage and two for the use of compressors. Similarly, in Mardan, the team disconnected ten connections involved in illegal gas usage, imposing fines totaling Rs0.11 million against gas theft cases.

In Sialkot, a single connection engaged in illegal gas usage was disconnected, and a fine of Rs0.19 million was imposed to discourage such practices.
