RIYADH: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has officially declared Saturday, February 22, 2025, as a public holiday in Saudi Arabia to commemorate the Founding Day. This special day marks the establishment of the First Saudi State by Imam Mohammed bin Saud in 1727, a pivotal moment in the Kingdom’s history.
The Founding Day celebrates Saudi Arabia’s deep-rooted heritage, national unity, and the enduring leadership bond between its rulers and citizens. It highlights the Kingdom’s early efforts in establishing security and stability after centuries of division, tracing the journey from the First Saudi State to the unification of Saudi Arabia under King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman.
The day also honors the legacy of Imam Turki bin Abdullah, the founder of the Second Saudi State, and the unification process that led to the creation of modern Saudi Arabia.
