PANAH unveils comprehensive strategy to combat NCDs in Pakistan

PANAH plans to launch extensive public awareness campaigns to educate the population.
ISLAMABAD, The PANAH Think Tank under command its President Maj. Gen. (R) Masood ur Rehman Kiani, convened its third meeting to formulate a comprehensive strategy aimed at mitigating the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Pakistan.
With NCDs posing a growing threat to the health of the nation, PANAH, under Maj. Gen. (R) Masood ur Rehman Kiani’s leadership, is spearheading efforts to address this pressing issue comprehensively.
The newly unveiled strategy encompasses multifaceted approaches to tackle the various facets of NCDs, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory ailments, and cancer. The initiatives outlined in the strategy are designed to be both preventive and therapeutic, aiming to reduce the incidence of NCDs while improving the management of existing cases.
PANAH plans to launch extensive public awareness campaigns to educate the population about the risk factors associated with NCDs. These campaigns will provide information on lifestyle choices, dietary habits, and the importance of regular health check-ups.
Recognizing the importance of instilling healthy habits early in life, the strategy emphasizes the integration of health education into school curriculums. This initiative aims to empower the younger generation with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed health decisions.
To ensure that individuals have timely access to healthcare services, PANAH is advocating for the establishment and enhancement of healthcare facilities across the country. This includes both urban and rural areas, addressing the disparities in healthcare access.
The strategy calls for stringent regulations on the production, marketing, and sale of tobacco products and unhealthy food items. PANAH believes that controlling these elements is vital in curbing the rise of NCDs associated with smoking and poor dietary choices.
