Australia_ The High Commission for Pakistan in Canberra today organized a webinar on “Opportunities in Australia IT Sector for Pakistani Citizens and Businesses”. The Webinar was organized as part of its ongoing “Opportunities Conference” initiative. The webinar featured a panel of distinguished speakers, including professional experts, policy advisors, educators, and representatives from
Australian Government Agency, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Ministry of Health NSW, and private IT Companies and networks in Australia including BeHUB and VMWare Australia. From Pakistan, one of the best-known figures from the Pakistani IT industry also cited as the ‘Bill Gates of Pakistan’,

 

Mr. Salim Ghauri, founder and CEO of NetSol Technologies joined as keynote speaker. Participants of the webinar included Deans of various universities, Heads of Departments, qualified IT engineers and professionals. The webinar was
broadcasted live on the High Commission’s YouTube Channel and Facebook page. During the webinar, the speakers provided valuable insights into the current landscape of Australia and Pakistan IT industry, potential avenues for collaboration and opportunities for growth.

The audience were informed about the latest technological advancements and emerging trends in Pakistan and Australia IT ecosystems; Australian government initiatives, incentives, and support programs available for foreign students and investors; employment prospects and job market for Pakistani IT professionals and businesses in Australia; skill requirements, visa options, and pathways for obtaining employment in Australia’s IT sector; insights into the recruitment process and career growth opportunities in Australia.
In his remarks, High Commissioner H.E. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri emphasized the importance of digital technologies which are playing a crucial role today in driving progress across every sector, from manufacturing, mining, and construction, to transport, banking, and healthcare. He highlighted the significant growth of Pakistan’s IT Sector and the valuable services that Pakistan’s IT companies and professionals are providing worldwide.

He mentioned that Pakistan’s IT exports have increased 70% during the last three years, Pakistan has more than 2000 registered IT companies & call centers and 13 Software technology parks, Pakistan is ranked number four for freelance development in the world, and around 150,000 IT professionals are available in the market. For businesses, Pakistan offers zero income tax on IT;

IT exports. The High Commissioner mentioned that Pakistani professionals have made substantial contributions to Australia IT sector, bringing their knowledge, skills, and diversity to help shape the technological landscape of this country. Their
success stories serve as an inspiration for others, showcasing the incredible potential that Pakistani citizens possess in this field. Describing the IT sector cooperation between Pakistan and Australia as a win-win for both the countries, the High Commissioner hoped that through collaborations and joint ventures,

Pakistani and Australian companies will harness synergies to create innovative products, explore new markets, and foster economic growth in both countries.
