Multan: More than 20,000 water connections disconnected in Multan. After electricity and gas, the government has also imposed a monthly increase of 500 to 900% in WASA bills and 19% fuel charges, after which more than 20,000 customers of Multan cut off their water connections during 9 months.Sources say that due to such a large number of disconnections, WASA will face a loss of Rs,7 crore in monthly recovery. WASA has set a target of Rs,25 crore for monthly recovery, but the recovery is only Rs,17 crore. Crores is happening. WASA authorities have imposed per capita on consumers using Lal Pump and other private wire sources as alternative sources of water to meet the shortfall of Rs,7 crore per month and to discourage consumers from disconnecting water connections.It has been decided to levy 200 rupees ecoffer charges.

Sources said that tube wells and turbines installed on big bungalows and farm houses will be charged up to Rs, 50,000.
The city of Multan, having a population of 1.9 Million, is spread over an area of 304 Sq. Km. WASA Multan, which was established in year 1992, has been functioning to provide water supply and sewerage facilitate to the citizens in Multan. Presently, WASA has been able to facilitate 60% of the population by producing and supplying at least 31.5 million gallons of drinking water daily. People themselves, by their own means are producing at least 12 million gallon water per day. In this way, WASA has to collect, lift and dispose 43.5 million gallons of sewage daily through its sewer network and Disposal Stations, which is maximum in summer months as 48 mg/D and minimum in winter months as 39 mg/D
