Lahore Hospital Staffer Allegedly Assaults 5-Year-Old Girl

A five-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a sanitary worker at Lahore’s Ganga Ram Hospital. The alleged incident, which took place on the seventh floor of the hospital’s Mother and Child Center, has caused widespread outrage and led to significant protests in the city.
The girl’s mother accused the hospital administration of trying to cover up the incident. Her efforts to raise the alarm resulted in the arrest of a 22-year-old sweeper by the security guards, who then handed him over to the Mozang police.
The police have stated that, despite the family’s allegations, preliminary investigations did not uncover any evidence of sexual assault. Nonetheless, a case has been filed against the suspect under harassment charges. Authorities are currently reviewing the hospital’s CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
According to the police, the girl’s mother reportedly did not wish to pursue legal action. The suspect, who worked as a sweeper at the hospital, has been detained while further inquiries continue.
The incident has sparked protests by female doctors and paramedical staff outside Ganga Ram Hospital. Demonstrators have demanded justice for the alleged victim and called for enhanced security measures to protect female patients and staff at the hospital.

Relatives of the girl have accused a hospital worker of attempting to rape her. The protesting nurses and students also blocked traffic, which was later cleared after the protests concluded.
In response to the unrest, Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, called a meeting to address the concerns raised by students and staff. He assured that all demands would be considered and announced plans for further discussions with the university administration regarding campus security.
