International Community Urges Action Against Settlement Expansion and Protecting Civilians in Gaza

Escalating Attacks on Civilians in Masafer Yatta Deepen Concerns Amidst Palestinian-Israeli Conflict.

Gaza: Amid escalating tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories, the international community is calling for urgent action to address settlement expansion and ensure the safety of civilians in Gaza.

In a recent statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized the importance of implementing Resolution 2334 to halt settlement activities, which pose a significant obstacle to the realization of a two-state solution. The Ministry condemned extremist colonial organizations’ efforts to establish new settlement outposts and expand existing ones, particularly in areas such as the “Ariel Triangle” near Ramallah.

Furthermore, the Ministry expressed deep concern over the escalating attacks on civilians in Masafer Yatta, where colonialist militias continue to assault Palestinians and sabotage their agricultural livelihoods. These actions not only undermine Resolution 2334 but also perpetuate a cycle of violence and displacement, making it increasingly difficult to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

The international community is urged to develop and enforce sanctions against settler-colonial occupation systems and extremist individuals involved in these violations. By imposing deterrent measures, there is hope to pressure the occupying state to halt settlement activities, dismantle colonialist militias, and lift political and legal protections that enable such actions.

Additionally, the Ministry warned of the dire consequences of displacing civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, particularly those seeking refuge in medical facilities like the Shifa Medical Complex. It holds the Israeli government fully responsible for the safety of medical staff, ambulance crews, patients, and displaced persons in these areas, stressing the need for immediate international intervention to protect civilians and ensure access to essential services.

Despite international resolutions and court orders, Palestinian civilians continue to suffer from the occupation army’s disregard for their lives. Urgent action is needed to address these violations, uphold international law, and protect the rights of all individuals affected by the conflict.
