Staff Reporter – Karachi:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is unstable and that the general elections could be held in the country at any time.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Bilawal said that the fresh elections were the only solution to the problems facing the country, adding that the people all over the country believed that the PPP could redress their issues.

“The PTI government is unstable, [therefore] general elections can be held any time and we are fully prepared,” Bilawal told reporters. “We believe that new elections are the solution to the problems. People see resolution of their problems in the PPP,” he added.

The PPP chief said that the masses had seen the real face of change, which the PTI had promised. “The people have recognised the real face of change that is poverty, inflation and unemployment,” Bilawal said. “Now, people are joining the PPP at all levels.”

Bilawal claimed that the federal government was not giving full resources to the Sindh government. However, the PPP-led provincial government was serving the people despite all these conspiracies. “The PPP is working in the province despite limited resources.”

Responding to a question about the local body elections, the PPP chief said that his party would defeat both the PTI and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Karachi. He said that PPP was the only party which did not toe anyone else’s line, as it only followed wishes of the people.

About the opposition parties, Bilawal said that he respected Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). He added that the opposition alliance was winning until the PPP was part of it.

“We defeated the government by participating in the by-elections,” he said. “If the opposition is serious, then bring a no-confidence motion against [Punjab Chief Minister] Usman Bazdar and [Prime Minister] Imran Khan.”

The PPP chairman expressed his regret, saying that the prime minister had a lenient attitude towards terrorists. “The government should reconsider its policy aimed at eradicating terrorism from the country and end its leniency towards terrorists,” he said.
