Frequent GPS Signal Loss Near Major Pakistani Airports; ATC to Assist Flights

ISLAMABAD: Aircraft operating near Pakistan’s major airports, including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, have reported frequent disruptions in GPS signals, according to a recent Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority. The interference has been observed within a 100-nautical-mile radius of these airports, as well as in other areas within the Karachi and Lahore Information Regions.

Pilots have experienced GPS signal disruptions during flights, potentially leading to navigation difficulties and deviations from designated flight paths. Aviation authorities have advised pilots to immediately report any such incidents to Air Traffic Control (ATC), providing all relevant information for proper assessment and mitigation.

In response, ATC has been directed to assist affected flights and ensure necessary measures are in place to maintain safe and effective navigation despite the signal interference. While authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the disruptions, they have emphasized the importance of vigilance and timely reporting by pilots.
