FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour Kicks Off in Riyadh Ahead of 2026 Tournament

As the tour moves across continents, anticipation is expected to grow ahead of the landmark tournament

ISLAMABAD: The sixth FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola officially began in Riyadh, making Saudi Arabia the first stop of a global celebration ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Senior officials, football leaders, and invited guests welcomed the arrival of the iconic trophy, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing role in international football and fan engagement. Italian football legend Alessandro Del Piero unveiled the World Cup trophy upon its arrival before taking part in a football clinic for young children, where he shared his experiences and led on-field activities, creating memorable moments for participants.

The celebrations later moved to a major shopping mall in Riyadh, where hundreds of fans gathered for a public display of the trophy. The event drew strong media attention and reflected the deep emotional connection fans share with football’s most prestigious prize.

The FIFA World Cup Original Trophy will travel across 30 FIFA member associations, making 75 stops over more than 150 days. The global tour aims to bring the trophy closer to fans worldwide, giving millions a rare chance to see it in person.

Excitement continues to build for the FIFA World Cup 2026 following the final draw held last month. While most teams have already qualified, the remaining six spots will be decided in March through European play-offs and an intercontinental tournament in North American host cities.

As the tour moves across continents, anticipation is expected to grow ahead of the landmark tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Organisers say the trophy tour will help unite fans, celebrate football culture, and build momentum for the upcoming World Cup.
