ECC Approves Rs1.94bn Grant for Defence and Other Key Projects

ECC approved Rs1.50 billion to increase faculty salaries in the federal education sector.

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved several technical supplementary grants and projects in its latest meeting. Key approvals include a Rs1.94 billion grant for the Ministry of Defence, aimed at defense expenditure, and Rs52.7 million for the National Commission for Women.

The committee also sanctioned Rs2.26 billion for 15 ongoing projects under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and a Rs120 million grant for arrears related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, Korean Culture Week, and the Council of Heads of Government (CHG) events.

In education, the ECC approved Rs1.50 billion to increase faculty salaries in the federal education sector. Additionally, Rs1.72 billion was allocated to the Interior Ministry for repairing CCTV cameras damaged during protests in Islamabad and clearing the remaining contract balance for the Safe City project.

To support social welfare, the committee approved Rs1.68 billion for the Prime Minister’s Relief Package on Utility Stores, providing subsidized goods to citizens. The ECC also endorsed a proposal to declare the warehouse and logistics sector as an industry.
