Crackdown on Gas Theft: 205 Connections Disconnected, Rs 8.82 Million Fine Imposed by SNGPL

In Peshawar and Karak, SNGPL disconnected 62 connections for direct and illegal gas use.

In a relentless effort to curb gas theft, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) conducted raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, resulting in the disconnection of 205 illegal connections. The crackdown also led to the processing of 371 cases related to underbilling. A substantial fine of Rs 8.82 million was imposed on offenders during the operations.

In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 17 connections due to illegal gas use and 7 connections for compressor usage. A fine of Rs 0.13 million was imposed on gas theft and underbilling cases. In Rawalpindi, the team disconnected 5 connections for illegal gas use, while in Islamabad, 13 connections were cut off for the same reason. Multan saw 1 connection disconnected, and 154 underbilling cases were processed, with a fine of Rs 0.22 million imposed. Additionally, a FIR was lodged by the team.

The Sheikhupura team disconnected 33 connections for illegal gas use and 4 for compressor usage. A total of 35 underbilling cases were processed, resulting in a fine of Rs 5.03 million against gas pilferers. In Sargodha, 4 connections were cut off due to compressor usage.

In Peshawar and Karak, SNGPL disconnected 62 connections for direct and illegal gas use. The company processed 83 underbilling cases, imposing a fine of Rs 1.89 million against gas theft. Two FIRs were lodged against gas pilferers. In Mardan, the team disconnected 4 connections for direct and illegal gas use, imposing a fine of Rs 0.89 million. In Bahawalpur, 41 connections were disconnected for illegal gas use, and 9 for compressor usage. A total of 85 underbilling cases were processed, with a fine of Rs 0.31 million against gas theft and underbilling cases.

In Sahiwal, 2 connections were disconnected for compressor use. In Faisalabad, 3 connections were cut off for illegal gas use, with 12 underbilling cases processed and a fine of Rs 0.18 million against gas theft cases. In Sialkot, 2 underbilling cases were processed, resulting in a fine of Rs 0.17 million against underbilling and gas theft cases.
