Charges Filed Against Iranian Man in Plot to Kill Donald Trump
US-(Special Correspondent): The U.S. has charged an Iranian man in connection with a plot allegedly ordered by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, according to the Justice Department.
Farhad Shakeri, 51, a Tehran-based IRGC asset, reportedly informed law enforcement that he was instructed on October 7, 2024, to devise a plan to kill Trump. However, Shakeri claimed he had no intention of carrying out the plan within the IRGC’s specified timeframe. Shakeri had immigrated to the U.S. as a child but was deported around 2008 following a robbery conviction. He is currently believed to be in Iran and remains at large.
Additionally, two New York residents, Carlisle Rivera and Jonathan Loadholt, were charged for assisting Shakeri in plotting to kill a U.S. citizen of Iranian descent in New York. The victim, an outspoken critic of the Iranian regime, is believed to be Masih Alinejad, an activist and journalist who has faced previous threats. Both Rivera and Loadholt have been detained pending trial, though their lawyers have not yet responded to requests for comment.
