AGEGA announced to hold sit-in in front of the Parliament for indefinite period

Islamabad; The deadlock between federal civil servants and the government persisted as they, under the banner of All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) had announced to hold a sit-in in front of the Parliament House from tomorrow for an indefinite period.

According to the source, the protesting public servants from across the country have been demanding the government to increase the salaries of the employees on the basis of the Pay and Pension Commission’s recommendations and 150% executive allowance. They are also calling the government for a 100% increase in house rent, and medical and conveyance allowances. They are also demanding the up gradation of federal government employees on the pattern of provincial government employees as per the February 11, 2021 government agreement and recommendations of the Establishment Division.

Furthermore AGEGA chief coordinator Rahman Bajwa said that they would continue their protest till the fulfillment of their demands. “Our protest is apolitical and will remain non-political,” he said. He lamented that despite the assurance of the federal government, their demands could not be approved.

Moreover “There will be no compromise over the rights of employees. If the government accepts their demands, they will change the sit-in into a day of thanksgiving,” he added. He said that employees from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir will participate in the sit-in.

Meanwhile “All government employees and associations of the federation will participate in the sit-in. Sixteen thousand engineers will also participate in the sit-in with logistical support,” he hinted. He said that AGEGA announced the date of the sit-in on October 13.
