“Nation’s Resilience and Military Valor Celebrated at Watim Colleges”

Poster Competition and Documentaries Showcase Students' Creativity and Patriotism

Rawalpindi – A wave of patriotism surged through Watim Medical & Dental Colleges as faculty, students, and distinguished guests gathered for a poignant observance of “Youm-e-Tashakur,” celebrating Pakistan’s resilience and military valor.

The event was graced by renowned orthopedic surgeon and former Principal & Dean of Army Medical College, Prof. Dr. Maj Gen (R) Sohail Ameen HI (M), who delivered an impassioned speech as the Chief Guest. In his address, he reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s defense, declaring, “Pakistan is our red line. We will defend every inch of it, even if it means the last drop of our blood,” prompting a resounding applause from the audience.

Prof. Dr. Saad Asad and Mr. Aftab Ashraf, Assistant Commissioner Rawalpindi, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the unity of the Pakistani nation and condemning the ongoing oppression in Indian-occupied Kashmir. Their speeches reinforced the collective responsibility to protect the dignity and sovereignty of Pakistan.

Prof. Idrees Butt, in a heartfelt recounting of the 1965 war and his visits to the Line of Control, moved the audience as he reflected on the sacrifices made by soldiers and the resilience of Kashmiris. The event highlighted the importance of education in fostering patriotism, with speeches from Acting Principal Watim Medical College, Prof. Dr. Mazhar Malik, and Principal Watim Dental College, Prof. Dr. Brig (R) Syed Gulzar Bukhari.

The ceremony concluded with a stirring address by Chairman and CEO, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasheed Mian, who emphasized the collective responsibility to uphold Pakistan’s honor and sovereign dignity.

The event also featured a soul-stirring performance of the Milli Naghma, “Ae Rah-e-Haq Ke Shaheedo” by Prof. Dr. Madiha Ali, followed by patriotic speeches and national songs by students. A poster competition titled “Marka-e-Haq” showcased the artistic talents of students, while documentaries and short films commemorating Pakistan’s historic victory against India were screened, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

The “Youm-e-Tashakur” event served as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s unbreakable spirit, with the nation’s youth standing as the torchbearers of sacrifice, courage, and patriotism.
