Pakistan, China Sign MoUs to Enhance Cooperation in Key Sectors
BEIJING: Pakistan and China have signed three important Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in the renewable energy, cement, and fertilizer manufacturing sectors. The signing ceremony took place in Beijing and was witnessed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The first MoU was signed between Pakistan’s Thatta Cement Company and China’s Zhonggang Construction Group. This agreement will facilitate the establishment of an additional production line at Thatta Cement, increasing cement production by 5000 tons per day in Pakistan, utilizing locally sourced Pakistani coal.
The second MoU was signed between the Sindh Energy Department and China’s Ming Yang Renewable Energy Company. The collaboration will promote various renewable energy projects in Pakistan, focusing on achieving carbon peaking, carbon neutrality, and emission reduction goals.

The third MoU was signed between the Sindh government and Meskay Femtee CG&M, a Chinese company, for the development of a coal gasification and urea production plant. This joint venture aims to address the urgent need for a coal gasification plant in Pakistan for fertilizer production.
These agreements mark a significant step in enhancing Pakistan-China bilateral ties and advancing the country’s industrial and energy sectors.
